Baltimore 13-year-old shot and killed, five others injured as they left March Madness-themed dance party
“This level of violence is unacceptable,” Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt told reporters at a news conference on Monday. “An adolescent lost his life for some senseless unknown reason.”Gunfire broke out shortly after midnight on Sunday as people exited the Triple Threat Elite Dance Studio in the Kenwood Shopping Mall, according to a press release from Baltimore County police. The victims were allegedly approached by “several suspects” as they left the weekend event, which had a March Madness theme, witnesses told ABC News.
“An altercation ensued, and multiple shots were fired towards the group,” according to law enforcement.A 13-year-old boy, identified by police as Rickie Ford, was pronounced dead on the scene. Two 12-year-old boys, a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were also struck in the gunfire.
Another victim, a 19-year-old, was also wounded in the shooting.
