South East Governors Hold Emergency Meeting .

 
An emergency security meeting of governors of the south east states of Nigeria with other leaders from the region is holding at the Enugu state government house. 
Four governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu states as well as the president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo, deputy senate president and the GOC 82 division of the Nigerian army, among other leaders have arrived for the Enugu talks, described as crucial.

The emergency security meeting is coming on the heels of the rising security tension in the south east region following violent clashes between soldiers of operation python dance ii and members of the separatist agitation group, the indigenous peoples of Biafra, IPOB.
The leader of the indigenous peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was expected at the meeting as a follow up to the on-going dialogue initiated by the governors to douse ethnic agitations but he has not been sighted anywhere close to the venue of the meeting. 
Founder of the Igbo youth movement, Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko in an earlier interview told ait that the separatist agitation group leader will not attend the parley.
The cities of aba and Umuahia in Abia state have been theatres of violent clashes since last Sunday and there are fears that this might spread to other parts of the south east states and the country if not promptly controlled.
A communiqué is expected at the end of the meeting
